Act! Quick Tip: Restart the SQL Service

Today we will review how to restart the SQL Service when you cannot access your database.  SQL Service is simply the engine which powers the relational database within Act!.

When you log in to Act!, this error pops up and you cannot access your database:

There is an easy way to restart the SQL Service.  First, go to your Windows start menu and type Services.msc in the search box and click enter.

You will then get a list of services that are currently stopped, running or disabled on your computer.  In order to restart the SQL Service, scroll down the list of services until you see SQL SERVER (ACT7) Service, highlight this selection.  In the upper left-hand corner of the dialogue window, you will see an option to start the service.  Click on this option.  You should now be able to log into Act!.  For more support options, please contact us at info@toplineresults.com.
