Marketers and salespeople often spend countless hours searching for better-qualified leads that can convert into active customers. They dream of a solution that can make their professional lives more efficient and boost their income. While hiring personal assistants may be out of budget for most, imagine if they could. How would their lives change?
I suspect most salespeople would delegate lead generation and basic lead qualification to that dream assistant so they could focus more on high-value deals with solid prospects. Marketers, who are often responsible for lead generation, could benefit from an assistant to help better qualify leads, making their efforts more effective, enabling them to maximize their marketing ROI.
For Microsoft Dynamics Sales users, a lead qualification assistant is no longer a dream; it is a reality! Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Qualification Agent has a target general availability date of October 2025, but the public preview has been available since May.
The agent works on behalf of users to autonomously assess leads based on defined selection criteria. Features include:
-
-
Lead research
The AI agent researches leads by combining your Dynamics 365 CRM data with public web resources to create robust lead and company profiles. It then assesses a lead’s importance based on user-defined target profile criteria as well as engagement signals from recent marketing interactions.
-
-
-
Insights and recommendations
The agent provides account summaries, recent company news, competitor insights and recommended prioritization, so the seller can focus on the prospects most likely to convert.
-
-
-
Personalized outreach
The latest version of the agent can draft and send customized emails with key points. It can also send reminders to unresponsive leads, thereby increasing response rates.
-
-
-
Smart engagement
With personalized follow-up emails, the AI agent detects and analyzes responses to detect purchase intent. It can answer questions using your knowledge sources, which helps move the prospect along the buyers’ journey.
-
-
-
Easy customization
Your D365 admin can adjust qualification rules, knowledge sources, and handover criteria to match your specific sales strategy. Your admin can also control the level of automation you hope to use.

So how much does this capability cost?
This new Microsoft tool uses consumption-based billing. These capabilities use Microsoft Copilot Studio messages for AI interactions and tasks. Messages are the billing units that measure usage. The number of messages per event depends on its complexity.
With consumption-based billing, you can select from two models: prepaid capacity and pay-as-you-go. Both models require that you link your D365 Sales environment to a Power Platform environment.
