Tips for Email Marketing, Part Two

In part one, we discussed the importance of choosing fonts and color schemes for your email marketing.   In this article, we will discuss additional tips for creating emails that will get you noticed.

Content

When writing content for your email marketing, it is important to keep your audience’s interests in mind.  Always balance informative and engaging content with content that promotes your business.  A handy rule of thumb is the 80/20 rule:  80% of the content should inform and engage your audience, the remaining 20% can be used to promote your business.  This simple rule will help keep your audience interested in your emails and less likely to delete without reading.

Master template

A goal of email marketing is to build your brand in the eyes of your customers.  Your email marketing should be consistent with your other marketing efforts, such as your website and printed materials.  In fact, your emails should be instantly recognizable to your audience.  They should reflect the image your company wishes to convey and reinforce company marketing messages.  For these reasons, it is also important to be consistent with your email marketing from one contact to the next.  Therefore, you want to create a master template which can be used for each email sent.  It will make your life easier, if you have a master template as a starting point.  You can make simple customizations for the current email, add your content and send!
