Installing TopLine Products under VISTA

 

The TopLine Dash and TopLine Alerts installer does not run as an Administrator under Windows Vista, resulting in the error

"The installer encountered an unexpected error installing this package.  The error code is 2869"

Below are the correct steps for getting TopLine Dash or Alerts to properly install under Windows Vista.

  1. Ensure that ACT is closed and not running.
  2. Place the TopLine Dash installer in an easily accessible location. TopLine would suggest your desktop
    .
     
  3. Locate the Command Prompt from the Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt.

     
  4. IMPORTANT - Right click on the Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator".

     
  5. From the Command Prompt box, locate the TopLine Dash installer. If on the desktop, the path would be C:\Users\<username>\Desktop, so you would enter "cd c:\users\<username>\desktop"

     
  6. Run the installer with "toplinedash6013.msi" or whichever version you downloaded.
     
  7. The installer will complete successfully.
